All Disney stores are closing in Canada and liquidation will begin as soon as possible
It’s happening, Mickey fans. The Disney Store is officially closing its remaining locations in Canada and liquidation would begin in a few days.
In the store locator section of the Shop Disney website, the company confirmed that its last three stores will close by September 22 of this year.
The other three stores are all located in the Greater Toronto Area and are located at the CF Toronto Eaton Center, Scarborough Town Center and a store in Vaughan Mills. Once they close permanently, there will be no more Canadian Disney stores at all.
Last month, the company began closing stores across the country, including stores in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba, in addition to nearly all stores in Ontario.
A Retail Insider report says the Disney Store liquidation will begin in late August, which means sales could start in a few days.
The company says it is focusing on its e-commerce business while reducing its physical footprint globally.
This is very bad news for Mickey Merch fans, as there is no Canadian version of the site at this time. It is still possible to purchase online at Shop Disney, although Canadians will need to use the US version of the website.
There is some magical news, however, as Disney is expanding into Canada in other ways. Earlier this summer, the company confirmed plans to open a brand new animation studio in Vancouver.
