OCC February 2021 Total volume up 45.6% from a year ago

CHICAGO–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) – OCC, the world’s largest equity derivatives clearing organization, today announced that the total volume of contracts cleared in February 2021 was 828,558,430 contracts, the second highest month on record after January 2021 and up 45.6% from February 2020. Volume average daily contract cleared through February was 44,002,651 contracts, up 61.4% from February 2020.

Options: Total listed options the volume of cleared contracts was 823,412,827, up 47.4% compared to February 2020. Stock options the volume of cleared contracts was 786,095,745 contracts, up 54.8% compared to February 2020. This includes ETF option volume of contracts cleared of 213,675,234, an increase of 2.4% compared to February 2020. Volume of indexing options was 37,317,082, a decrease of 26.5% from February 2020. OCC’s average daily cleared options volume since the start of the year is 43,730,332 contracts.

Futures contracts: The total volume of cleared futures contracts was 5,145,603 contracts, a decrease of 49.0% from February 2020. Since the start of the year, OCC’s average daily cleared volume is 272 319 contracts.

Securities lending: The average daily loan value at OCC in February 2021 was $ 115,720,498,494, an increase of 43.4% from February 2020. Securities lending Central counterparty activity increased by 17.8% in new loans from February 2020 with 115,069 transactions last month.
